Only God can judge me!Only God can judge me

This is a phrase that shows up in rap songs, tattoos, t-shirts, bumper stickers…

And when someone says this, what they mean is:

“You may not approve of what I am doing, but God does!”

No, He doesn’t.

You see, God has already judged you in the Bible and He says you’re guilty. You’re a murderer at heart, calling somebody names makes you liable to the hell of fire.

Everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment… Whoever says, “You fool!” will be liable to the fire of hell. (Matthew 5:22)

You’ve committed adultery. You covet and desire things more than God, which the Bible says is idol worship. Your thoughts are evil. You are accountable for every careless word you have spoken. You’re a liar, and all liars go to hell.

I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew 5:28)

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. (Matthew 15:19)

As for the cowardly, the faithless, detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8)

At the final judgment, everyone will stand before the throne of God, great books will be opened and the dead will be judged according to what they have done. If anyone’s name is not found in the Book of Life, he is thrown into the lake of fire.

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the thrown, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:12-15)

So, right now, you’re guilty. You just haven’t been sentenced yet.

How can you be sure that on that Day of Judgment, you will receive eternal life instead of eternal punishment?

The answer is: Believe in Jesus Christ.

Believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved! (John 1:12, Acts 16:31 & Romans 10:9)

His sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the grave is the only atonement for sin. Those who follow Him will not walk in sin anymore, but in His righteousness.

And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:24)

The Bible says:

And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This He set aside, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:13-14)

Therefore, let no one pass judgment on you… (Colossians 2:16)

The spiritual person judges all things but is himself to be judged by no one. (1 Corinthians 2:15)

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
