For decades we’ve been arguing: Is a child in the womb a person or not? Those who are pro-abortion have justified killing babies by denying they are babies at all. They call them fetuses and tissue, avoiding any words that might attribute personhood.
But that’s over now.
It’s out in the open in print and on TV. A child in the womb is a person who deserves no rights. They claim their cause is noble, defending women’s rights (or health care), while denying rights and murdering those they acknowledge are people.
Consider Mary Elizabeth Williams’ words in So What If Abortion Ends a Life?, an article she wrote for Salon.com, January 23, 2013:
“I know that throughout my own pregnancies, I never wavered for a moment in the belief that I was carrying a human life inside of me. I believe that’s what a fetus is: a human life. And that doesn’t make me one iota less solidly pro-choice.”
How is this not an oppressive, murderous holocaust?
The Bible warns:
“Understand this, that in the last days, there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, with an appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:1-7)
Those who are pro-abortion even understand that these children are people, and refer to a child still in the womb as an “unborn person”, and the Declaration of Independence claims:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights: that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Yet they are never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth – the knowledge of these two facts still do not amount to these particular persons being endowed with the same rights.
Proverbs 31:8 tells us,
Open your mouth for the mute, for the RIGHTS of all who are destitute.
The unborn are people. Even their enemies know it. Speak loud on their behalf. Call for repentance and preach the Gospel of Christ, our only salvation from our murderous sins. This obligation becomes perfectly clear when we understand the text.
