“Weight-ing” on the Lord

As you are about to hear in this PODCAST, the time has come for us to have a sensible discussion about an issue that has been grossly misunderstood, and consequently grievously mis-taught, in far too many Christian settings. All of this causing so much harm spiritually, mentally, and emotionally to so many.

Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Oh, my dear friends, get ready to be set free!

Let’s begin by reading 1 Peter 1:6-9…

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuinenesss of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

“Weight-ing” on the LordNow, the Bible is a book in perfect balance. How the Holy Spirit-led authors did this, blows my mind. For example, consider the deity of Jesus Christ – the Bible claims that He is both 100% human AND 100% God. That is a breathtaking balance. There is also the sovereignty of God balanced with our own free will. There is the fact that God chose us, which is balanced by the fact that we chose God. Wait… did you choose Him, or did He choose you? The answer is a resounding YES. Also, you and I are created in God’s image; and yet you and I are totally depraved. There’s the foundational authorship of the Bible – God’s word, yet written by the hands of human authors. Then there is the fact that Jesus died for everyone, yet not everyone will be saved.

The Bible is a book of perfect balance.

Including the balanced words that we find in 1 Peter 1:6…

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

Rejoicing… balanced by grieving. This is a balance unique to Christ-followers. The balanced foci of joy and grief comes from a God-blessed life.
