Scriptures:

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12)

When Jesus saw the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest.” (Matthew 9:36-38)

Bottom Line to Loving a Hurting Community Well:Panel Discussion Regarding Racial Unrest
  • Look, Listen, Lead!
    • Take time to look for and see people and their pain. Other people’s pain is like a bonfire – you can see it from far away, but you can’t feel it until you draw near.
    • Listen and get to know people. Empathy goes a long way.
    • Lead others to follow Jesus’ example.
