Helping the Heroes at Palomar Medical Center

Helping the Heroes at Palomar Medical CenterToday, a lot of our Yard family came to feed our heroes through our Help the Heroes initiative. We partnered with Pastor Tim Spivey at New Vintage Church in Escondido, CA, as well as pro athletes: Nick Hundley (Padres), Nick Novak (Chargers), Heath Bell (Padres), Lucas Johnson (SDSU QB), and Rick Takahashi (National Surfing Champion). Together, we fed 250 COVID-19 first responders at Palomar to let them now that they are loved and appreciated. Our goal was to be a tangible example of how God loves them.

Alex Arana, Palomar Medical Center Annual Giving Manager: We have a lot of people to see and we want to promote the most help that we can. To have extra love come in for our staff, because they are working long hours and it does get stressful, and this is just one way to let them know that they are loved by the community.

Tim Spivey, Senior Pastor at new Vintage Church: To be able to serve these people is just a natural expression of our faith. To be able to contribute what we can to help people will hopefully help them see the Light of Christ in everyday life as they are confronted with really heavy stuff through these trying times.

Today’s event was very special because it was so local: a local pastor from a local church serving a local hospital through local restaurants and partnered with local athletes… all to Help the Heroes!
