Pros Who Serve
Today was a great day in San Diego. We partnered with some great local athletes and organizations, including Jersey Mike’s Subs and Seven Cold Brew Coffee, to feed 300 of Palomar Medical Center COVID-19 Response Team members. We did it with some great athletes from a variety of eras and sports. We had Charlie Joiner, NFL Hall of Fame Wide Receiver, Former Padre All-Star Center Fielder Ruppert Jones, Former Chargers Kicker Nick Novak, Roberto Wallace former Dolphins Wide Receiver and SDSU stand out, and 12-Time National Surfing Champion Rick Takahashi… all here to serve.
And, I’m not highlighting the things that they’ve done on the field, but rather OFF the field. These guys were simply being humble servants of God. Every one of these guys have taken the risk, cleared their schedules, left behind their titles and forgot their championships and said, “How can I give back to the community?”
Roberto Wallace: Our work here is to support and help feed the COVID-19 First Response Team.
Rick Takahashi: We are here to be a blessing to the frontline people who give and sacrifice and put themselves at risk everyday for us. So, we’re just here to share the love of Jesus with them.
It blesses me to work and serve with these guys. And it challenges me to continue to build Cielo Sports and The Yard as we share God’s love to and through athletes and we let faith and sports collide… and that’s what happened here today!
