From the UK Daily:  What makes extroverts happier?  Typically, extroverts have a  more effective “desire system” than most introverts, according to researchers.  What do they desire?  Well, it’s my unscientific opinion that they desire to talk you ear off, compared to an introvert who just wants to be left alone.  Combine the two and only one gets their way – no wonder the loudmouths are so dang happy!!

Also, extroverts are more likely to spend time involved in rewarding activities, such as:  telephoning, texting, Skyping and FaceTiming introverts, chasing introverts, cornering introverts, and wrestling introverts into submission while they sleep at night!

I wonder what this research looked like:

“Madam, you just spent three hours talking to your husband about the type of tile you want installed in your guest water closet.  How do you feel?”

“I feel good!”

“Now you, sir.  You just listened to her for three hours.  How do you feel?”

“KILL ME!!!”

“Fascinating.”

On a more serious and heart-felt note, we are filled with sorrow with the passing of our friend, John Pinette.  Not only was he a great comedian, but a great friend to so many of us.

In his own words, his career was one that included stand up, television, film, Broadway… much like Forrest Gump, he just popped up all over the place in the entertainment industry.  And, like Forrest said, life is like a box of chocolates – you eat them and you get fat.

John’s gift was is storytelling abilities, which he learned from studying the greats:  Bills Cosby, Buddy Hackett and Richard Pryor.

One story John loved to tell has to do with why he refused to buy a toaster:  the gateway appliance to Eggo Waffles.  Yet, backed into a corner by society’s marginalization of non-toaster owners, he caved.

Switching gears, comedian Rich Praytor calls into the show to discuss his frustration with his children.  He has three kids – he originally wanted four, but after having three, he realized that he only wants two kids.

And they keep coming to him looking for help with their homework.  Why do math word problems always have something complicated to do with trains?!

If Train A leaves New York at 7:00 am going 55 mph and Train B leaves St. Louis at 8:00 am going 65 mpg, how long is it going to take you to fail this test?

What they need are real world word problems such as:

If I’ve got to get to work by 8:00 and my alarm goes off at 7:00, how many times can I hit the snooze button?

Or this one for single people:

If I’ve got a date at 6:00 and I eat Taco Bell at 3:30, how many times on the way to my date’s house do I need to roll down my window?  (the answer is three, by the way, in case you are grading at home)
