A while back, Dr. Myers, the Chairman of the Board at Summit Ministries, was invited to appear on an episode of Fox News to discuss the resignation of former Congressman Anthony Weiner in the midst of his sexting scandal with lesbian liberal feminist Ellen Ratner. At the face of it, this was going to be interesting, to say the least.

Introduction to Worldviews, part 1 with Dr. Jeff MyersJeff felt prepared, if for no other reason that he was very familiar with Monty Python’s Argument Clinic sketch. After all, this often typified what occurred on most he-said-she-said political debate shows. However, one thing that Jeff wasn’t prepared for was how much non-verbal utterances, hums and sounds are picked up by the microphone.

Despite all his “mm hmm’s” and “hmmmm’s”, Dr. Myers was able to hold his ground regarding the former Congressman, saying:

“He is a narcissist – a little boy who has never grown up. Look at what he was doing – sending photos of himself. That’s exhibitionism, not sexual addiction. The ultimate issue is that if he is a narcissist, he has never been representing his district, but merely representing himself and now it’s time for him to step back and make room for someone else who is willing and able to represent the people. The people who are sexting right now are middle school kids and Anthony Weiner.”

This exchange brought to light how difficult cultural engagement is for today’s Christians. Today’s society has millions of ideas culminating to competing worldviews surrounding us.

In our next video, we will dive deeper into what they are and how they affect our lives as Christians in the 21st century.
