When most people are in a scenario where they have to “exchange information”, it’s rarely a pleasant experience. In most cases, it follows a fenderbender, traffic ticket or worse.
However, the value of exchanging information in the manner of sharing your story with other people is immeasurable.
According to my dad, when we share our – and one another’s – successes and failures, we can help others avoid pitfalls and find truths that otherwise would go unspoken.
The odd thing is that we are typically real quick to exchange information when it comes to reviewing a restaurant or a golf course on Yelp, but we’re much slower to share stories when it comes to relationships, failures and real life.
We are so worried about preserving our own egos or other people’s feelings that we sometimes abandon truth in the process.
So, take a few minutes and hear my dad’s stories, then comment below and start the process of “exchanging information” with me and my dad.
