According to my dad, people may not be as big of idiots as you may assume.
In fact, just as in the real estate business, the secret is location, location, location; in the relationship business, the secret is exposure, exposure, exposure. Some people are simply exposed to more than other people and therefore have different sets of priorities and value systems. The way one person reacts to a certain event may seem like an idiotic move to another person, but those to reactions are often simply based on the two different levels of exposure that they have accumulated throughout their lives.
Therefore, we need to take into consideration that other people may not be as “exposed” as you may be, so they may require a little more grace in your relationship with them as you help them gain more exposure to the world around us.
You see, people that are around us affect our lives in unmeasurable ways. The question remains: how are people affected when they are exposed to you?
