How does a self-centered person know that they are self-centered? The quick answer is, “They don’t”, but is it possible to coax them into a different perspective where they consider other people first? What about those “Generous Self-Centered People” we all know? You know, the ones who give of their stuff generously, but only if life is led on their terms?
According to my dad, this bridge can be crossed via real, honest and patient discipleship and relationships. The key is seizing opportunities to expose one another to the plights of other people and then walking with one another around the bend in order to appreciate a different perspective.
