Why Abortion Supporters Dislike PMCs

Why do abortion rights supporters have so much disdain for pregnancy medical clinics and pregnancy resource centers? What is it about PMCs or PRCs that causes such anger? Abortion rights supporters say their platform is about empowering women. PMCs and PRCs feel that women should be empowered too with knowledge. Abortion rights supporters say that women need education about their options, PMCS and PRCs feel women deserve clear, evidenced based information about their pregnancy, and all their options. As the CEO of a licensed, accredited pregnancy medical clinic in Southern California I know this disdain well. In 2015 AB775 was approved. This law stated that life affirming PMCs and PRCs had to post in their waiting room and provide to their patients where a woman could receive a free or low cost abortion. They even mandated what size font had to be used. PMCs and PRCs were being compelled to provide information that they fundamentally disagreed with. This law went all the way to the Supreme Court where it was struck down, because it was in fact compelled speech. The state of California was telling PMCs and PRCs what they had to say and how to say it. Side note, the Attorney General of California who pushed that law, is now being considered to be the head of the Department of Health and Human Services.  Could it be that they have disdain for the ideology of the intrinsic value of human life and PMCs and PRCs core values are to honor human life? As I was exploring this a little bit more, I started looking into the 1992 statement that former President Bill Clinton used that abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. As I dug a little deeper I realized that the rare part has been dropped from the platform of abortion in 2012. The truth has come out, abortion supporters actually do not want abortion to be rare, they want it to be widely available. Right now, in California a Senate bill is being discussed that will mandate that ALL insurance companies provide for abortion services without co-pay or deductible. The author of the bill was endorsed by multiple pro-abortion groups. According to the California Department of Insurance most policies are required to cover preventative care with no co-pay or deductible. But was is preventative care? It is defined as health care that prevents disease, injury, or illness. Contraception is listed under preventative care, but let’s look at what contraception does, at its core it is the deliberate use of artificial methods or other techniques to prevent pregnancy. So you may be thinking well, abortion really is contraception, it’s preventing a women from having a child. Well…..yes…it prevents a child from being born. Guttmacher stated in 2013, “A contraception method, by definition, prevents pregnancy by interfering with ovulation, fertilization, or implantation. Abortion ends an established pregnancy, after implantation.” So this bill wants abortion, the ending of a human life, to be completely free, not rare, free. California already aborts 130,000 humans a year. So we can see why pro-abortion advocates have vitriolic disdain for PMCs and PRCs, because they offer options, when all that pro-abortion ideology wants, is abortion.
