Not only is the universe fine-tuned from the beginning, but there is also a habitability argument for our solar system. Our actual solar system is perfectly fine tuned in order to sustain life here on Earth – the third rock from the sun. For starters, if we were just a fraction closer or a fraction further away from the sun than what Earth’s orbit is today, life wouldn’t exist here. We are in what scientists call, “The Goldilocks Zone”, where it’s not too hot, nor too cold, but just right in order to sustain life. This applies as well to our planet’s axial tilt of 23.5 degrees – if it were changed even slightly, Earth would be uninhabitable, likewise in regards to our rotation of 24 hours, the size and distance of the Moon from Earth, and even the size, orbit and distance away from us of Jupiter, Saturn and the other planets of our solar system – change them even the slightest bit and we would be goners.

Consider Jupiter: Its gravitational pull is so strong that it attracts most of the meteors, comets and space junk to its surface, instead of all that floating to earth and bombarding our planet.

Thank God for Jupiter.

And it doesn’t stop at our solar system. The entire Galaxy is equally as fine-tuned! It is nothing short but absolutely amazing!

On February 1, 2003, the President of the United States went into the East Room of the White House. It was a Saturday morning at 9:00 am. They turned the broadcast camera on and every major television network carried his address as the President said:

“My fellow Americans, this day has brought terrible news and great sadness to our country. At 9:00 a.m. this morning, Mission Control in Houston lost contact with our space shuttle Columbia. A short time later, debris was seen falling from the skies above Texas. The Columbia is lost; there are no survivors.

…In the words of the prophet Isaiah, ‘Lift your eyes and look to the heavens. Who created all these? He who brings out the starry hosts one by one and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.’

The same creator who names the stars also knows the names of the seven souls we mourn today. The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth; yet we can pray that all are safely home.”
