I’m telling you this is what passes for the Fourth of July in California – a snake pellet!

Do you hear me men? I tell you this with great gusto and joy: nine years ago, I moved my family from California to Nashville, Tennessee. I became one of you all. I tell you that because i went out to grab my fireworks that first year and realized immediately that I had found testosterone nirvana!

I bought my fireworks and they came with a mortar tube! With a package the size of my fist, 15 inches of fuse, allowing for just enough time to leap into the neighbor’s bushes. I had to buy five hoses to wrap around my stinking house to prepare a week in advance.

You want to know the difference between the Fourth in California and Tennessee? In Tennessee, all the old timers try to join in the fun, but they can’t even give you a thumbs up anymore.

That’s what I’m talking about.

That is the South – good people who believe in States’ rights, and believe in traditions.
