The Cost of Being A Christian

The first time I ever went to Vegas was in the month of July. If you ever think about taking a family getaway to Vegas in July… DON’T! It was 120. And you know what? It should be! It’s the desert!! That’s where 120 hangs out! The problem is not “Is it hot in the desert?”, the problem is, “Why would you start a town there?!” What are your options? Well, we don’t have enough fuel to make it to the surface of the sun, let’s all live here.

I’m putting sunscreen on – it’s crawling off. They don’t walk their dogs during the day because they might burst into flame! Vegas is a Mexican word that means MOVE. Even the cactus is saying, “Stop!”

No whining. You’re not allowed to whine as a Christian. Not allowed. And if you whine long enough, you’ll end up in the desert. You’ll end up in the desert whining that you’re not back in the place you were whining about in the first place because you haven’t changed. Because you talk about your Christianity and it hasn’t changed your character. I’m tired of it. You have got to do some self-analysis. How do you know what you believe? Well, I go to church, I’m a Christian, I accepted Jesus, I’m a Christian.

How do you know what you believe?

I’ll tell you how – does it affect your behavior?

Because if you are truly regenerated, redeemed, filled with the Spirit of God, access the Creator of the universe who will speak to you and you can hear and learn to actually do what He tells you even if it sounds crazy and unusual… when you learn to be like that, you will be one of the elite in this place that everybody else will look at and say, “Whoa!”

And you know how you’ll know it’s you? Because you won’t know it’s you. You won’t have pride. You’re just trying to do what He told you all along: Give Me your life or get out.

We have cowardly Christians in America and it’s killing us.

There is a price to pay and we don’t want to. God said, “I want your life” and we think it is a metaphor. You want to know what Christianity costs you? Go take your faith and a Bible to North Korea. Go to China and start speaking of your civil rights. Go to Saudi Arabia where it is illegal to have a cross. Go to Syria. Go to Egypt where our people started – that area the original church is being driven out, slaughtered, raped, beheaded.

Why don’t they just say, “Look… whatever… okay, I’m Muslim… whatever. I’ll lie. Just leave my kids alone. Why don’t they do that? Because they know the cost and they will not compromise.
