Here’s a metaphore for you:  the game of life is played on the field, therefore the locker room is church – where you lay out a gameplan, receive instruction on how to win and prepare for the game ahead.  But what happens when the game goes south?  We need to be able to huddle up on the sideline and be revived by supportive coaches and teammates, draw up a new game plan and get what’s needed to get back out there and win!

That necessary sideline is a small group of friends and family who are dedicated to helping one another succeed.  In many churches, a small group is just one of many opportunities to get involved.  However, according to my dad, it’s the one key way to make it through the game of life on the winning team.  Without the support of a strong home team, we’re bound to make mistakes along the way that will definitely set us back, or take us out of the game entirely.
