Often times, when we find ourselves seeking God’s will and direction in our lives, we actually end up sitting and waiting for a step-by-step roadmap.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  God does often want us to wait – days, weeks, months… even years sometimes.  But I think that sometimes we get so hung up on “waiting for God’s perfect plan” that we miss His will for our daily lives.

I think that if we truly want to move in a direction that is God’s will, we need to get moving.  If we start moving in a direcdtion that isn’t where He wants us to go, He’ll shut those doors and redirect our course.  We just need to decide on a course to move on and allow Him to open and close opportunities.

My generation, the millennials, is accused of being enabled and lazy.  And as I look around at my Christian peers as they just sit and wait for that perfect job, spouse and life to drop on them prepackaged and ready to go – I think that perception is accurate.

Take Noah for example.  God gave him one set of details – how to build an ark.  The step-by-step plan of how long he’d be at sea, what each day would look like on board the floating zoo or what to do next were omitted from God’s memo to Noah.

But Noah obeyed.  He acted.  He trusted.

When Jesus prayed for God’s will to be done while anguishing in Gethsemane, He prayed.  He obeyed.  He trusted.

In my own life, God’s will doesn’t always seem to makes sense because I can’t see the unfolding of the whole picture.  But God can.  He’s never late and He is always there.  I just need to obey.  To act.  To trust.

So, I encourage you as you seek God’s will:  decide on a course, act on it and trust that God is and will continue to take care of you and guide you as you move.
