COVID-19 Quarantine Encouragement from Blake Treinen
The All Star Dodgers Pitcher offers encouragement through trying times.
With all of us isolated in our homes, it’s comforting to know that as followers of Jesus, we are never alone. God wasn’t kidding when He said, “Don’t be afraid because I will be with you.”
To help remind us of God’s promises, we have reached out to our “Friends of The Yard”. This week, we welcome 2018 MLB All Star Pitcher, Blake Treinen!
Blake Treinen, Pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers:
Hey, this is Blake Treinen with the Los Angeles Dodgers. We’re all going through a really tough time right now; and I think there’s a lot of uneasy feelings and uncertainty with what’s gonna happen. There’s some insecure feelings, there’s some fear involved with what we just don’t know and don’t understand. And, I was asked to think of a Bible verse that’s meant a lot to me in my lifetime, and the one that rings true for me is something I sign with all my autographs – and that’s Proverbs 3:5-6:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding.
But in all ways acknowledge Him,
and He will set your path straight.
When I was asked to do this and share a life verse, it kind of stuck out. Because, I hadn’t thought of it as it pertains to this situation we’re all facing. So, I think the biggest thing is: Let’s just realize faith over fear and entrust God. Because He’s always had our best interests in mind – from the moment we were born until the moment that we die. And, in this little blip that we’re dealing with right now, in the span of our life, I think it’s important to remember that God has always been on the throne. And nothing has ever caught Him off guard. So, take joy that we have a God who loves us and has never left us… never will leave us… and nothing will separate us from His love. And you know, I think we need to cling to what’s true and what’s right; and we’ll get through this all together. So, let’s focus on the positives. This world is beating the negatives at us – which it’s pretty blaring. But let’s think about the things that are eternal and true; and let’s focus on the one thing that is greater than this – that is ALWAYS greater than ANYTHING… and that is God!
