Bible Bootcamp: Inspiration and Interpretation

Welcome to a well-deserved pat on the back.

Inspiration and InterpretationAs you are about to hear in this PODCAST, I am thrilled to be able to look you in the eyes (metaphorically speaking) and say to you (literally speaking) with absolute confidence and conviction that you fulfill the mandate of Peter’s words to a degree that would delight the apostle’s heart, as well as my own.

The fact that you as a precious podcast listener have taken the time to click on a link to this podcast given the enormous numbers of online distractions proves that you “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.”

My friend, we have so much to talk about.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1 Peter 2:1-3)

Firstly, let’s look at the word “desire” in verse 2. It means “to crave, yearn, or long for”. It’s a strong word that Peter chose purposefully. It reveals that God’s word is absolutely essential to our lives.

Then, there’s the word “grow”, which refers to the fact that through God’s word, our faith will continually increase. There’s nothing static about the Bible. It produces constant change in our lives, particularly when it comes to our ability to put our trust in God and His promises.

That’s why I am so encouraged by people who purposefully desire God’s word so that their faith can grow!

And through that growth of faith, along with the continual devouring of Scripture, comes the rich understanding and interpretation of the Bible and how it applies to our lives today!
