God’s Wish

The Bible does not tell us directly what God’s biggest wish is.  However, it does go out of its way to tell us about something that God does want very much.

In John 3:16 we read that “God loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him would have eternal life. ” If God went out of his way to give us his only son, that must mean that he REALLY wants people to believe in his son Jesus and have eternal life.

The Bible also tells us to pray for all people.  Paul tells us to do this because he says “this is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”  I Timothy 2:3.

So, although we don’t know if this is God’s biggest wish, we do know that he desires it and the Bible makes it clear to us.

Think about how incredible this is.  That God would go out of his way to tell you that he wants a relationship with you.

That is good news!

Jesus is the way to enter a relationship with God.  He is the one God sent to tell us about the way to salvation and to provide salvation for us. His death on the cross brings us back to God because God himself provided Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins.  Through Jesus, we can now enter into a relationship and friendship with God, coming to him clean and new.

All you need to do to begin this relationship with God is to ask God to forgive your sins and believe in Jesus.

The Bible tells us all about Jesus.  Get a Bible and begin reading in the Gospel of John.  That book will explain the gift of Jesus to you.

This is the only thing we could ever do to make God happy or fulfill his biggest wish.  We can’t give him a gift, or do any good work that would please him, except to believe in Jesus.  By doing this, we come into his family.  We enter into relationship with him.  And that is all that God really wants from us.
