ABOUT THE HOST

SPEAKING OF MEN
Speaking of Men is the weekly podcast that answers real questions from real women about the men in their lives. Whether the question concerns a husband, father, brother, son, or another man, Speaking of Men delivers answers and advice from a biblical perspective.

THE PODCAST
From Why can’t I get my husband to go to church with me?
to My husband goes to church but he never seems to change. What’s wrong with him?
or even My church has almost no single guys my age. Where are all the single Christian men?
Christian women have questions that are hard to ask and even harder to find the right people and places to ask them of. However, author and speaker Dave Murrow and Dr. Michelle Watson eagerly receive and discuss these questions, seeking wisdom from their collective experience and scripture. As the Proverb says, “A plan in the heart of a man is like deep water, but a man of understanding draws it out.” Proverbs 20:5

PODCASTER BIOS
David Murrow is director of Church for Men, an organization dedicated to restoring a healthy, life-giving masculine spirit in Christian congregations. He is the author of Why Men Hate Going to Church, an inspirational bestseller with more than 125,000 copies in print. A sought-after speaker, Murrow has spoken at men’s events around the world. Murrow tackles his taboo subject with grace, and humorous re-enactments of the things that drive men crazy about church. He is the former Director of Communications for the Alaska Governor’s Office, where he served under Sarah Palin.

Murrow has a degree in Anthropology from Baylor University. He’s a layman who’s served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He’s married with three children and three grandchildren. He lives in Chugiak, Alaska with his wife and a mini dachshund named Pepper.

Dr. Michelle Watson has a zest for life and is passionate about letting God use her to come alongside others in their healing journey. As a never-been-married-single-white-female, she loves having the freedom and energy to invest in ventures that couldn’t happen in the same way if she was married. If God leads a man into her life, she’s open…but for now she’s using every moment to embrace life to the fullest as a single woman!
Michelle holds a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Education from Multnomah University, a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College (where she was on the teaching team in the graduate eating disorder program for five years) and a PhD in Health Psychology from Walden University. She has a counseling practice in Portland, Oregon and has been in private practice for the past 15 years. Michelle is also the founder of The Abba Project, a forum that equips dads who have daughters in their teens and 20’s with tools to help them dial in more intentionally to their daughters. Michelle believes that if the hearts of fathers truly turn towards their daughters it will change the landscape of America like nothing we’ve ever seen before.

Recently Michelle has begun a spin-off ministry of The Abba Project called Abba’s Girls. She is mentoring three women in their early 20’s who are in turn mentoring 7th and 8th grade girls who either don’t have dads in the picture or whose dads would perhaps never join The Abba Project. In this way these junior high girls can experience healing by connecting with love from their Abba Father while also being invested in by vibrant young women who love God and love them!

Michelle is working on her first book, Changing Girls Lives One Dad At A Time (release date: July 2014, Harvest House Publishers.) The book will equip dads to connect better with their daughters.
Michelle speaks to audiences of teenagers, young adults and women on subjects on body image, eating disorders, identity, worship, and loving God in an authentic, unmasked way!
